WISPNET 2017 Conference- SSN College India

The international Conference on Wireless Communications, Signal Processing and Networking (WiSPNET) technically sponsored by IEEE and IEEE ComSoc, MAS, will be held at Electronics & Communication Engineering Department, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai-603110, India, from March 22 to 24, 2017, under the theme “Advancing Mobile and Wireless technologies towards the creation of smart world”.

WiSPNET is an international forum that fosters to bring together wireless communications researchers from both academics and industry interested in the latest development and design of wireless communications, signal processing and networks.

Solar Installation Schemes

01.Net Metering

Net metering is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid. For example, if a residential customer has a PV system on the home's rooftop, it may generate more electricity than the home uses during daylight hours. 

It allows residential and commercial customers who generate their own electricity from solar power to feed electricity they do not use back into the grid. 

It makes residential solar energy system ownership even more attractive and affordable for many families. 

It can save homeowners hundreds more dollars per year on their utility bills, and it makes the process of accounting for the energy fl owing to and from the utility simpler and easier to administer. 

The benefits come mostly from generating electricity near the point of use, which in turn reduces strain on the grid's distribution infrastructure and minimizes energy loss from sending voltage over long distances.

02.Net Accounting

If the generated units of electricity using the solar panels fixed on houses/premises are greater than the amount consumed, the customer will be paid Rs.22.00 per unit during the first 07 years and from the 8th year onward he will be paid Rs.15.50 per unit by the Electricity Board. 

If the consumption is greater than the generated units, the consumer has to pay at the existing electricity tariff for the excess electricity consumed.

03.Net Plus

This involves getting paid for the amount of electricity generated using the solar panels fixed on the premises. 

Unlike the net metering method there is no linkage in-between the electricity consumption of the customer and the electricity generation. 

The customer has to pay for the electricity consumed according to the existing tariff whilst the Electricity Board will pay for the total amount of electricity the customer generates.

Today, PV systems have an important use in areas remote from an electricity grid where they provide power for water pumping, lighting, refrigeration, air compressor operation, Computer operations, telecommunications and many other applications. However, with the global demand to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions, PV technology is also gaining popularity as a mainstream form of electricity generation.

Photovoltaic modules provide an independent, reliable electrical power source at the point of use, making it particularly suited to remote locations. However, solar PV is increasingly being used by homes and offices to provide electricity to replace or supplement grid power, often in the form of solar PV roof tiles. The daylight needed is free, but the cost of equipment can take many years before receiving any pay back. However, in remote areas where grid connection is expensive, PV can be the most cost effective power source.

How does Solar Power Plant work?

·                 The solar panels when exposed to sunlight generate DC electricity.

·                 The DC power goes through has solar inverter which is a critical component in a solar energy system. It performs the conversion of the generated DC.

·                 Photovoltaic (PV) system convert in to a clean sinusoidal 50-HzACpower that is then applied directly to the commercial electrical grid or to a local, off-grid electrical network.

·                 The intelligent Solar Inverter will first sense solar energy and supply it to the load. When there is no solar energy available then it will look for CB and supply to the load.

I have one sister and her name is Krishana and she is studying at eastern University of Sri Lanka.


I have completed my schooling at Carmel Fatima College Kalmunai.
I have completed my B.Sc in Engineering in Electrical and Information Engineering at University of Ruhuna and now i am working at Chance Electric Company Rajakiriya as an Electrical Engineer.
